Betty Witherspoon, a registered nurse, and John Draper Witherspoon, a military surgeon, welcomed Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon into the world on March 22, 1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Reese’s father, a lieutenant colonel in the US Army reserves, was stationed in Wiesbaden, Hesse, Germany, for the first four years of her life. The family quickly relocated back to the United States and settled in Nashville, Tennessee.

John values his family, just like Reese does. He is married to the gorgeous Jennie Witherspoon, and the two of them have two daughters. It’s obvious that Reese and John share the same love for one another.

On National Siblings Day, Reese also showed her respect for her older brother by posting an old photo of the two of them together. “Happy #NationalSiblingsDay to the best big brother,” she tweeted at the time.
